Tennis en Blanc Celebrates Music, Culture and Community

Tennis en Blanc Celebrates Music, Culture and Community

A tennis facility that helped shape the early careers of Taylor Townsend and Chris Eubanks will serve as the backdrop for a new celebration of tennis, culture and community this weekend.

A Grand Slam Affair: Tennis en Blanc will take over the South Fulton Tennis Center in Georgia, bringing together competitive tennis, professional instruction, youth programming, music, food, entertainment and community engagement in an event designed to help expand access to the sport.

The gathering is presented by the 40 All Foundation, Center Court LLC, Royalty Racquet Club, DJ Mad Linx and the City of South Fulton. Organizers envision it as more than a day of matches, using tennis as a vehicle for mentorship, relationships, health and opportunity.

That mission carries extra meaning at the South Fulton Tennis Center. The municipal facility has played a role in the development of prominent African American players, including Townsend, who trained there as a junior, and Eubanks, who developed his game at the center as a younger player under the guidance of the Young family.

The event will build on that history with doubles competition, instruction and opportunities for young players to interact with experienced coaches. Atlanta-area teaching professional Cliff Malivert will be among those participating. A Florida A&M University alumnus, Malivert has worked with ATP and WTA players and previously served on the coaching staff at Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton.

The tennis experience will also have a decidedly modern soundtrack. DJ Mad Linx will lead the Linx Experience, combining music, hosting and interactive play featuring the Tenniix ball machine. Royalty Racquet Club will add mentorship and tennis programming, while Center Court LLC will provide equipment and pro-shop support.

Food and hospitality are also part of the concept, with The Secret Rose Catering, Jean’s Tastee Treats and Once Upon A Coconut among the participating businesses. Riverside Entertainment will add live-performance support, further blending tennis with music and culture.

At the center of the event is the 40 All Foundation, a nonprofit focused on creating opportunities through tennis, education and community programming. Proceeds and contributions from Tennis en Blanc will support its efforts to provide tennis opportunities for underserved and under-resourced communities.

“Tennis has always represented far more than competition,” said Herb White, founder of the 40 All Foundation and Center Court LLC. “It builds character, strengthens communities, and creates opportunities that extend well beyond the court.”

Organizers hope Tennis en Blanc can eventually grow into an annual tennis and lifestyle experience for the Southeast, bringing players, families, coaches, businesses and community leaders together while investing in the next generation.

A Grand Slam Affair: Tennis en Blanc takes place Saturday at the South Fulton Tennis Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
