King Kecmanovic wins singles and doubles title at Delray Beach Open
Feb 17, 2025
Seventh seed Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia saved two match points to win the Delray Beach Open singles title over eighth seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain 3-6, 6-1, 7-5. He also won the doubles title with Brandon Nakashima, becoming the fourth player in tournament history to win the singles and doubles titles in the same year.
Adam Ross of Florida Tennis asked Kecmanovic how great it felt to win the 2025 DBO singles title in such spectacular fashion. “Yeah, I feel amazing. I'm honest — you feel amazing. So proud of myself that I was able to [at] 5-2, down match points, to come back to win my second title.”
Kecmanovic added, “Especially here in Florida, which you know, I've always played amazing here. So I'm super proud of myself.“

After the tough loss, Davidovich Fokina, vying for his first ATP title, showed great class by congratulating Kecmanovic on the victory in his post-match speech. He was philosophical about the loss and said, “It's sad but at the same time, I'm very happy with myself... [and with] the performance.”
Back to King Kecmanovic. It wasn't just the singles title that Kecmanovic was able to attain. Kecmanovic and his doubles partner Brandon Nakashima took down Christian Harrison and Evan King in a thrilling doubles final, 7-6(3)/1-6/10-3.
Harrison and King were on a roll fresh off their recent title at the Dallas Open. Meanwhile, Kecmanovic and Nakashima had never played doubles together before but their chemistry was undeniable.

So what did the win mean for Nakashima? He told Adam Ross of Florida Tennis that, “It feels great. My first ATP doubles title, and to do it with [Kecmanovic] here after he won the singles... [it] was really special. And, you know, first time for us playing together, and we ended up winning the tournament. So it's really an amazing feeling. And, hopefully, it'll give me some good confidence [moving forward] for my singles as well.”
In the end, Kecmanovic became only the 4th player in Delray Beach Open history to win both the singles and doubles titles in the same year. The three others are: Xavier Malisse-2007, Jan-Michael Gambill-2001; and Todd Woodbridge-1995.
Florida Tennis also asked Kecmanovic how he was able to bring such great tennis into the deciding doubles tiebreaker despite fatigue setting in after having just won the singles title. “I know I was [tired] after the second set. I knew I was down, I went [off the court] to cool off, get ready. And I knew I had, you know, 10 points. Tough it out for 10 points.”

Kecmanovic, aptly nicknamed, Ironman, added, “I came with energy. And, all the things I did started paying off. And we got off to a quick start. And luckily, we were able to finish.” Indeed! They finished strong and walked off with the beautiful, new DBO trophies.
And what did it mean to Kecmanovic to win both the singles and doubles titles this year? “That feels good. It feels amazing. You know, I'm super proud of myself. And yeah, I'm just looking forward to getting some rest right now," he explained.
Of note: Kecmanovic faced two match points in singles and two match points in doubles during his title runs. “I've been saving them all week. So it's been a great week,” said Kecmanovic.
Looking back, Kecmanovic was the DBO runner-up back in 2023. In 2025, he was vindicated. After last night's performance, this will mark Kecmanovic's fifth ATP Tour final and second title (2020 Kitzbuhel).
