What can we expect to learn in the new Roger Federer documentary?

Originally a home video never intended for public viewing, the film captures Federer at his most vulnerable and candid self, as he says goodbye to a game and the fans that shaped his life for the last two decades. The documentary provides unprecedented access (and on-camera interviews) with Federer's biggest rivals including Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray.

"Initially, the idea was to capture the final moments of my professional tennis career so that I could have it later on to show my family and friends,” said Federer.

“During my career, I tended to shy away from having cameras around me and my family, especially during important moments. But I didn't see the harm in shooting this as it was never intended for the public. However, we captured so many powerful moments, and it transformed into a deeply personal journey," adds Federer.

Presented by Prime Video, the upcoming Roger Federer documentary is a Lafcadia Productions production. The film is produced by Asif Kapadia and George Chignell, and directed by Kapadia and Joe Sabia.

In the official movie trailer (see below), Federer discusses his love of tennis and how much it meant to him, "I used to watch the players with a sense of wonder, they were like giants to me. And I began to dream."

The 100-minute long documentary will stream in Amazon Prime Video, which is also the distributor. In addition, the film is slated to premiere on June 10th at the Tribeca Film Festival, followed by a worldwide stream on June 20.
