UTS Tour Heads to Sweden for Season-Ending Gothenburg Tennis Showdown

The UTS Tour will make its debut in Sweden this December, bringing its fast-paced tennis format and high-energy atmosphere to the Scandinavium arena in Gothenburg.

The new UTS Gothenburg event will be held December 12-13 at the 10,000-seat venue, with eight of the world’s leading male players competing for a US$1 million prize money pot.

Created by coach and entrepreneur Patrick Mouratoglou, UTS has built its identity around a quicker, more fan-friendly version of tennis. Matches are played in 45-minute sessions, players are allowed only one serve, and UTS bonus cards can be used at pivotal moments. Fans are encouraged to cheer during and between points, creating an atmosphere closer to football or handball than traditional tennis. Live player interviews during matches also give fans more direct access to the competitors.

As the UTS Tour Super Stage and final event of the year, UTS Gothenburg will carry extra significance. The event will decide the UTS Year-End World No. 1.

Previous UTS Tour competition winners include Casper Ruud, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Alex de Minaur, Ben Shelton, Andrey Rublev, and Gaël Monfils.

Tickets will go on sale in August, when the names of the first players in the lineup will be announced. Fans can pre-register now at uts.live for pre-sale access.

The competition will run across two days. Day one will feature the quarter-finals, with four matches deciding who advances. Day two will include classification matches, the semi-finals and the final — five matches in total — to crown the champion and settle the year-end standings. The overall winner of the tournament can earn up to US$511,000.

Gothenburg will close the 2026 UTS season after Nîmes, France in April, and UTS Rio presented by XP in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, in July, where South American stars Joao Fonseca and Francisco Cerundolo have confirmed their participation.

Patrick Mouratoglou, Founder of UTS : “Sweden, with its long-standing tennis heritage, is a perfect match for UTS Tour. We love the vibrant energy of Gothenburg, which is used to hosting premium events, and we can’t wait to set Scandinavium on fire with our high octane tennis tournament, gathering some of the best players in the world. The Swedish fans will undoubtedly fall in love with UTS' electric atmosphere and fierce competition.”

"We are pleased to welcome world-class tennis back to Gothenburg. We are committed to offering major events throughout the year, and UTS is a valuable addition to our winter events calendar. The tour's Swedish debut in Gothenburg further strengthens the city's position as the Nordic capital of events," says Magnus Hallberg, Deputy CEO and Head of Events at Göteborg & Co.

“We are proud that the UTS Tour has chosen Scandinavium. We welcome initiatives that challenge traditional formats and create new ways to experience sport. It’s a perfect fit for Scandinavium and for Gothenburg audiences,” Lotta Nibell, CEO at Got Event.

UTS Gothenburg will be the second UTS event in Northern Europe after UTS Oslo opened the 2024 UTS circuit. The Scandinavium will join a list of venues that have hosted UTS events, including Forest Hills in New York City, the Copper Box Arena in London and the Arènes de Nîmes in France. Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Guadalajara and Hong Kong have also hosted UTS Tour events.
