Roger Federer Returns to London as Rolex Stars Take Center Stage at Laver Cup

Roger Federer is heading back to London, returning to the city where he won Wimbledon eight times and played the final match of his career.

This time, he’ll be watching.

Federer will be at The O2 for the 2026 Laver Cup, set for Sept. 25-27, as Team Europe and Team World renew one of tennis’ most entertaining rivalries. His return also comes during a milestone year with Rolex: Federer became a Rolex Testimonee in 2001, making 2026 his 25th year with the Swiss watchmaker.

Federer helped create the Laver Cup, which debuted in 2017 with Rolex as a Founding Partner. London carries particular significance for the 20-time Grand Slam champion. Along with his record eight Wimbledon men’s singles titles, it was the setting for his emotional farewell at the 2022 Laver Cup.

“The Laver Cup gives tennis the opportunity to show its gratitude to the legends who have shown us the way,” Federer said. “Because of the history behind the Laver Cup, and with the event reflecting the best of tennis past, present and future, it resonates with Rolex.”

The Rolex presence in London will extend well beyond Federer.

Carlos Alcaraz returns for his third consecutive Laver Cup appearance after completing the career Grand Slam at the Australian Open earlier this year. He’ll be joined on Team Europe by 19-year-old fellow Spaniard Rafael Jódar, making his Laver Cup debut, with former British star and Rolex Testimonee Tim Henman serving as vice captain.

Across the net, Taylor Fritz will make his sixth Laver Cup appearance for defending champion Team World. Fritz knows this building well: he was part of the Team World squad that broke through for its first Laver Cup championship in London in 2022.

“The Laver Cup is one of my favourite events,” Fritz said. “In tennis, team competitions are really fun to be part of, as you don’t often get the chance to play alongside other players.”

Australian great Pat Rafter, another Rolex Testimonee, returns as Team World vice captain.

Rolex has been intertwined with tennis for nearly half a century, beginning its relationship with Wimbledon in 1978 and expanding across all four Grand Slam tournaments, the ATP and WTA tours and major team competitions.

Few places showcase that history quite like London. And four years after one of tennis’ most memorable goodbyes, Federer is back at The O2 for another Laver Cup — with a considerably better view of the action.
