Coco Gauff Joins Florida Flamingos as Player-Owner for World Team Tennis Return

Coco Gauff is coming home this December with a new title attached: player-owner.

Gauff, who grew up in Delray Beach, has joined World Team Tennis’ Florida Flamingos Racquet Club and will compete in the franchise’s two home matches at Amerant Bank Arena on Dec. 14 and 15.

Gauff is currently slotted to face Victoria Mboko of Toronto North and Jessica Pegula of the New York Empire in the projected lineups for the two South Florida team matches.

“Growing the sport through team competition and making it more accessible are two things I love, and WTT does both,” Gauff said. “I’m looking forward to playing at home in front of my family and friends in South Florida. It’s not often, as a tennis player, that we get to compete as part of a team, so I’m excited for the new experience, not only for myself but, even more importantly, for the fans.”

For Gauff, the move gives World Team Tennis one of the sport’s biggest stars along with an owner whose connection to the Flamingos’ home market runs deep.

Having been raised in Delray Beach, Gauff has repeatedly tied projects back to her hometown. In 2024, she helped refurbish the tennis courts at Pompey Park through the USTA’s US Open Legacy Initiative. New Balance followed in 2025 with the Coco Delray shoe collaboration, while her Coco Gauff Foundation continues its community work.

Now she becomes part of a Florida roster loaded with recognizable young American talent.

Gauff joins Tommy Paul, Learner Tien, Brandon Nakashima, Iva Jovic and Eva Lys on the Flamingos. Across the relaunched league, announced players include Pegula, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Mboko, Leylah Fernandez and Denis Shapovalov.

WTT returns this December with its condensed team format, giving fans eight players within a traditional match window. Each team match features four singles sets followed by a mixed doubles Supertiebreaker.

For South Florida tennis fans, the Flamingos suddenly have another compelling reason to circle December on the calendar.

One of Delray Beach’s biggest sporting success stories will be playing close to home — with a stake in the team she is representing.

Tickets and season information are available through World Team Tennis.
