Coco Gauff hosts event in Delray Beach to celebrate New Balance 'Coco Delray' launch

New Balance athlete, 9-time WTA singles winner and number 3 in the world, Coco Gauff, celebrated the launch of the 'Coco Delray' just ahead of the Miami Open earlier this week. 

Coco and New Balance hosted the public event at Pompey Park in Delray Beach with a screening of the Coco Delray campaign video, which shares the story of Coco’s roots growing up in Delray Beach, playing on the public courts at Pompey Park and the community support of family and friends who uplifted her.

Following the screening of the Coco Delray campaign video, Coco, Coco’s family, Yvonne Lee Odem (Coco’s grandmother), Joe Freshgoods (aka Joe Robinson), and representatives from New Balance, discussed the backstory of the campaign video and access to the sport of tennis in front of a packed crowd. 

“I’m incredibly proud to launch the new Coco Delray because it’s more than just a tennis shoe – it represents an opportunity to broaden access to those interested in playing the game,” says Coco Gauff. “Delray Beach helped spark my tennis journey, so it’s special to me to tell the story of this community that influenced exactly why I love this sport."

Coco’s early training at Pompey Park taught her more than just skill on the tennis court — she learned that communities build athletes and that the sport of tennis can move culture. In a nod to her upbringing, the 'Coco Delray' is designed for the everyday player and built for all levels of competition.

Coco joined her family to celebrate the launch in Delray Beach at Pompey Park, the courts where her career started. It was a fun, festive atmosphere where attendees participated in games and activities, listened to live music, and enjoyed local food trucks to honor the Delray community.
