DETA Pickleball Club to Send First-Ever Team to U.S. Open Pickleball Championships

DETA Pickleball Club recently announced that it will send its first-ever team to compete in the prestigious U.S. Open Pickleball Championships in Naples, April 26 - May 3.
This marks a milestone for the club — the largest pickleball facility in Miami-Dade County with 17 dedicated championship courts — underscoring its commitment to the development of pickleball in the community.
DETA Pickleball Club’s sponsorship of a team for this national tournament reflects the dedication and hard work of the club's players and coaches and the increasing popularity of pickleball in South Florida.
"Fielding a team for the U.S. Open Pickleball Championships is a testament to the growth of our club and the incredible talent within our ranks," said David Ensignia Sr., founder of the DETA Pickleball Club. "We’re excited to represent our community on the national stage and showcase the passion and skill of our players."
To celebrate National Pickleball Month, DETA is opening its courts to all players competing in the U.S. Open tournament, providing practice time from 7–10 p.m. on Friday nights.

"We’re here to support all the local players getting ready for the U.S. Open," said Juan Carlos Pardi, director of DETA Pickleball Club and a U.S. Open coach and doubles player. "Our courts are open—come by and get some practice in before heading to Naples."
The team representing DETA Pickleball Club at the U.S. Open consists of:

- Adrian Palacios – Men’s Singles, Kendall, FL
- Gustavo Melendez – Men’s Doubles, Kendall, FL
- Marcell Cubilla – Men’s Doubles, Kendall, FL
- Saylid Lopez – Mixed Doubles, Doral, FL
- Juan Pardi – 50+ Men’s Doubles, Kendall, FL
- Decio Raven – 50+ Men’s Doubles, Kendall, FL
"I began playing pickleball for fun," said Adrian Palacios, 19. "I never imagined I’d compete beyond the local level. I’m honored to represent the club and take my game to a bigger stage."
The club held qualifiers, inviting members to compete for a spot. After intense competition, the seven finalists earned their place.
"Choosing our team wasn’t easy," said Ensignia. "Many talented members competed, but these seven stood out. Their skills, teamwork, and dedication made them perfect representatives."
The DETA U.S. Open team practices every Friday night, and the public is welcome to watch. Players with a DUPR rating of 3.50 or higher are invited to join the team’s training sessions.
The practice Schedule for DETA U.S. Open Team and local contenders will happen Fridays, 7–10 p.m. – April 4, 11, 18. Just email info@detapickleballclub.com to book a court and to train with DETA, register via CourtReserve/DETAPickleballClub — the cost is $10 for three hours.

The DETA Pickleball Club was founded by the David Ensignia Tennis Academy (DETA) in 2023, DETA Pickleball Club is the largest pickleball facility in Miami-Dade County with 17 courts.
