World Team Tennis Unveils New Clubs and Star Players Ahead of December Relaunch
Aug 20, 2026
World Team Tennis is taking another major step toward its December return, unveiling three clubs and the star players who will represent them.
The league unveiled three official clubs, pairing each with a marquee player who has a personal connection to the market: Tommy Paul with the Florida Flamingos Racquet Club, Jessica Pegula with the New York Empire Racquet Club and Denis Shapovalov with the Toronto North Racquet Club.
For Florida, the reveal brings back one of WTT’s original names. The Florida Flamingos date to the league’s inaugural 1974 season, with the revived club now carrying a redesigned crest built around the original flamingo identity in pink and deep burgundy. The new mark also includes a 1974 founding-year reference and is intended to reflect the color and energy of metropolitan Miami.

Paul gives the Flamingos an immediate South Florida connection. He has lived in Boca Raton since his teenage years and will represent the club when WTT returns to competition in December.
“When I saw the branding for the Florida Flamingos, I couldn’t have been more excited,” Paul said. “The tennis community in South Florida is very special to me, and I can’t wait for December.”
New York’s club builds on a more recent chapter in WTT history. The New York Empire Racquet Club traces its identity to the franchise that brought WTT back to New York in 2016 and won the league championship in 2020. Its new crest centers on an “NY” monogram and geometric crown, with the design drawing from New York architecture, Art Deco influences and the city skyline. Pegula, who was born in Buffalo, will represent the club.

Toronto North Racquet Club, meanwhile, marks the return of professional team tennis to the region for the first time since the Toronto-Buffalo Royals competed during WTT’s inaugural 1974 season. Its new crest features a moose with six antlers representing Toronto’s six districts, rendered in Canadian red. Shapovalov, who grew up in Toronto, will lead the club.
The identities are part of a broader effort by WTT to modernize the league while maintaining its connection to the original vision that helped make team tennis distinct.
“Our goal has always been to modernize WTT’s incredible legacy and reshape our brands to create something as cool as it was back in the day,” WTT Chief Executive Officer Stephen Amritraj said. “Our view is that tennis’ popularity starts with the best players in the world, but has always extended well beyond the court into lifestyle and culture.”

That lifestyle piece is clearly central to the relaunch. Rather than treating the clubs as simple geographic labels, WTT is building each around a distinct visual identity designed to connect with local communities and give fans something recognizable beyond match day.
“Building a distinct crest, logo and identity for each club that speaks to the culture, history and heartbeat of each city was an intentional first step in relaunching the league,” WTT Chief Business Officer Patrick Yee said. “We wanted to develop clubs that can live well beyond the court and are inextricably linked with local communities, personalities and legacies. This is just the beginning.”
WTT says additional players and further details surrounding the upcoming season schedule will be announced soon.
