World Team Tennis Returns With New Fan-First Format in Miami Metropolitan Area, New York City and Toronto

World Team Tennis is returning with a reimagined, fan-first format and three city-based clubs set for New York City, Toronto and the Miami metropolitan area.
The mixed-gender team tennis league, co-founded by Billie Jean King in 1974, announced the team markets ahead of its 47th season, which is scheduled to launch in December 2026.
The upcoming season will feature six events, with each team playing two home matches and two away matches. Opening Night will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn before the league moves to Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto and Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, later that month.
The Miami metropolitan-area club gives South Florida another high-profile professional tennis event, with WTT planning to combine elite tennis with live entertainment, premium hospitality and interactive fan activations inside arena settings.

"We're incredibly excited to bring WTT's new vision to life in these cities as we begin the league's next chapter,” said Stephen Amritraj, Chief Executive Officer of WTT. “Together, these markets are home to some of the world's largest tennis communities, incredible sports and entertainment venues, and elite player talent.”
Amritraj said the league has rebuilt the fan experience around a faster, more accessible team product.
“We've been intentional about listening to tennis fans and revamped WTT's entire fan experience from the ground up to create a truly unique team product in tennis,” Amritraj said. “From our new format to the in-arena experience, every decision has been driven by one goal: delivering more value to fans to help grow the sport.”
Tennis Canada is also supporting the league’s return to Toronto, where organizers expect several Canadian players to take part.

WTT’s updated format will feature four singles sets — Men’s No. 1, Women’s No. 1, Men’s No. 2 and Women’s No. 2 — followed by a mixed doubles Supertiebreaker. Each gender will contribute equally to the overall team result.
The league will continue using no-ad scoring in a single-set format designed to move quickly and create more variety for fans. WTT said the format will feature eight elite players within the same match window that traditionally showcases two players, while keeping the action fast-paced and scheduled to start and finish on time.
Originally founded by Billie Jean King and others in 1974, World Team Tennis helped pioneer mixed-gender team competition and a more accessible, fan-focused approach to the sport. Under new ownership and management, the league is returning with a primetime format built around professional tennis, entertainment, culture and local pride.
