Wellington Hosts the 2025 USTA Family Clay Courts: Full Summary and Division Winners
Nov 16, 2025
From November 7–9, more than 140 players representing 20 states traveled to Wellington for the 2025 WELCH USTA National Family Clay Court Championships, held at the Wellington Tennis Center.
This tournament is one of four USTA National Family Championships played on different surfaces—Grass, Hard, Indoor, and Clay—and is designated as a USTA Level One Gold Ball Championship. Competitors battled for national ranking points and the prestigious Gold, Silver, and Bronze Ball awards across the Mother/Son, Father/Daughter, and Mother/Daughter divisions in various age categories.
Competition reached an impressive level, featuring past and current Division I college athletes, National Champions, ATP Tour players, and active ITF competitors.
“This is the fifth year we have hosted the USTA Family Clay Court Championships, and the level of tennis continues to improve each year,” said Tournament Director and Village Director of Tennis, Chuck Gill. “Many matches were decided by a super tie-break, and we saw upsets every day. This tournament continues to showcase everything great about our sport—players of all ages competing alongside family at a wonderful venue. We are looking forward to even bigger and better tennis in 2026. This year was once again a true National Championship, with Gold, Silver, and Bronze Balls awarded to teams from 20 different states.”
A standout victory came from local teaching professional BJ Monroe and his daughter Addyson, a rising star from West Palm Beach. They captured the Father-Daughter Open Division, defeating Doug and Danielle Schoenly—the winners of both the 2025 Grass and Hard Court Championships—in a deciding match tie-break.
