Two Miami-Dade County Teams Capture USTA Adult League National Championships
Nov 04, 2025
The 2025 USTA Adult League National Championships started on October 10 and have been running for a few weeks now with various divisions and age groups in play. The competition took place in Arizona, California, and Florida as teams traveled to battle the best in the country. Let’s take a look at how the first half of the National Championships went for Florida as two Miami-Dade teams brought home a title.
The Miami-Dade Squad from Doral Park Country Club entered the Adult 40 & Over 4.0 Men’s National Championships with high hopes, and they came out strong. In pool play, they made an early statement, going 3-1 with a 14-6 scoreline in total for the lines. This secured them the tiebreaker and gave the team a third-place finish in pools, advancing to the Championship Draw.
In the semifinals, USTA Florida matched up against USTA Mid-Atlantic, the second seed in pools. It was an intense match as Mid-Atlantic took the Singles line, however, the Miami guys were able to answer right back behind some strong Doubles play on their top lines to win the match 3-2 and move onto the championship.
The finals were set with USTA Florida and the Southern Section. These two powerhouses were strong all weekend long, and the championship was no different. However, the Sunshine State was too strong winning the top Singles line as well as three of the four in Doubles to take the title and become USTA Adult League Champions.
Jose Lebron, the team’s captain, was proud of everyone and put into perspective what this meant to all of them. “Winning the USTA League National Championship was the culmination of years of dedication, friendship, and perseverance,” he said. “Competing together in Scottsdale reminded us why we love this game, the camaraderie, competition, and community it builds. This title means more than just a trophy, it’s a shared achievement we’ll cherish for a lifetime.

In the Adult 40 & Over 4.5 Men’s National Championship, the Miami-Dade team from Doral Park Country Club wanted to capture its third National title in just four years. Hungry as ever, the team swept their pool play matches and secured the top seed heading into the Championship Draw.
They matched up with USTA Southern in the semifinals where it was a very one-sided match. Florida came out hot with the top win on the Singles line. They then went on to win Lines 2, 3, 4 for Doubles and secure the 4-1 match and spot in the finals.
The Championship was super tight as USTA Florida’s Miami team went against USTA Texas, a very strong opponent. Texas was firing from the start with wins on both top lines for Singles and Doubles. However, composure and experience paid off for the former champs as they won the final three lines for Doubles and secured their third National Title in four years.
Captain of the team, Armando Cabane, was super happy and proud of his team’s resilience the whole year. “Winning the Nationals Championship was more than just a title, it was the culmination of grit, friendship, and years of shared passion,” he said. “What made it truly special was doing it alongside a group of talented friends who became brothers on and off the court. And for me, leading Team Florida to the national championship three of the last four years is an honor that fills me with pride, not just for the victories, but for the journey we’ve built together.”
