Tennis, Pickleball, and Community at Newport Bay Club

Newport Bay Club has experienced steady growth in racquet sports participation, driven by structured programming and strong community interest. The residential gated community of 225 homes located in upscale Boca Raton in the heart of Millionaire's Row offers 7 lighted tennis courts and 4 Pickleball courts.

Participation has remained consistently high throughout the year. “All our courts are usually filled every morning,” said Facundo Rossello, Director of Racquet Sports. “We stay very busy with multiple teams at different levels… we compete in the South Palm Beach County League.” He added, “We also have a men’s team that plays in the Palm Beach Tennis League.”

Community engagement plays a role as well. “We have our socials every last Friday of the month,” Rossello said. “We run games so they feel it’s a great moment for them to exercise, play the sport they love, and also connect with other residents and members.”

Rossello also described the recent expansion of pickleball. “Our goal this year is to continue to promote pickleball in our club and continue to provide more clinics,” he said. “I’ve been working on getting more pickleball coaches… and we’re introducing this in-house league where residents are gonna be able to play against each other throughout the whole season.”

Paul Kosinski, a former board member and longtime resident, shared how racquet sports influenced his decision to move. “We looked at a lot of neighborhoods and really loved Newport Bay—not only for its beauty but also for the strength of its tennis program, which remains excellent,” he said. “Each program has brought its own unique flavor of tennis and training to the community.”

Rosello also plays a role at FM Tennis. "FM Tennis manages facilities all across South Florida,” explains Rossello. “Our goal is to ensure that our clients are able to coach themselves once they leave the class. We focus on the three E's: exercise, entertain, and educate.”

“Racquet sports—including pickleball—offer a really valuable experience for residents,” said Brandon Flanagan, managing partner at FM Tennis. “They can come here whether they want to improve their game, burn calories, or be part of a social event.”

Flanagan reflected on the evolving relationship between tennis and pickleball. “In the very early stages, it felt like tennis and pickleball were somewhat at odds,” he said. “Now, I feel like they’ve learned to coexist… and people play both. I think that’s a really positive development.”
