Tennis Collectors Get Spider-Man Special Edition in New US Open Marvel Comic Collab
Aug 23, 2026
Spider-Man is coming to the US Open as Marvel and the USTA team up for a new original comic book celebrating New York City and one of tennis’ biggest events.
The collaboration, now in its third consecutive year, will bring more than 40,000 free print copies of the Spider-Man comic to fans during US Open Fan Week at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
The story follows Spider-Man as he chases supervillain Scorpion across all five boroughs of New York City on his way to the US Open, passing iconic landmarks and experiencing the city along the way.
The comic ties into the 2026 US Open theme, “Celebrating Our New York Story,” with six different covers, including rare editions highlighting the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island.

Fans attending US Open Fan Week will be able to receive a copy for free on a first-come, first-served basis by scanning their Fan Access Pass at the giveaway tent inside the main entrance.
For collectors, the biggest prize will be the limited-edition borough covers. Only 1,000 copies of each borough edition will be produced, with the rare covers distributed at random in blind bags to the first 1,000 fans picking up comics each day from Aug. 24 through Aug. 28.
“This is such a creative and exciting concept that brings Spider-Man to the US Open and also amplifies the celebration of our theme and New York City, with six unique covers featuring landmarks of all five boroughs,” said Nicole Kankam, Managing Director, Pro Tennis Marketing and Entertainment for the USTA.
Kankam said the continuing Marvel collaboration is designed to enhance the Fan Week experience while also introducing tennis to new audiences.

“Peter Parker is the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and while he is from Queens, his neighborhood is the whole of New York City,” said Nick Lowe, VP and Executive Editor for Marvel’s Spider-Man comic books.
Lowe added that the project gave Marvel an opportunity to spotlight landmarks throughout the five boroughs, including the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens.
The Spider-Man giveaway will be part of a broader slate of activities planned during US Open Fan Week, when fans can visit the grounds before the start of the singles main draw.
