Mar 11, 2026
In a region known for its vibrant tennis culture, finding a place that combines high-level expertise with a boutique retail experience can be surprisingly rare. At Set Point Tennis, located on South Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach, players have found exactly that.
Co-founder and CEO, Lisa Herbert Winter describes the store as more than just a place to buy the latest court apparel and performance-enhancing footwear and equipment for all levels.
“Set Point Tennis is the go-to destination for all things tennis and racquet sports in Palm Beach,” Lisa said. “This area desperately needed a new kind of resource for court expertise, style and top-performing gear. Now, our clients have a place right in West Palm Beach, and we are attracting court enthusiasts from all over Florida.” Set Point has also been committed to serving the growing number of pickleball and padel players in the area. “We expanded to offer all racquet sports,” she explains.
Lisa is the daughter of Lawrence Herbert, founder of the world’s color authority, Pantone. Lisa’s executive career in design and trend-spotting for Pantone clearly reflects in the details in the store, showcasing her keen eye for design and functionality.
A key element of the store’s identity is its personalized service. Lisa’s husband and business partner, Ricardo Winter, brings professional playing and coaching experience to the shop. Ricardo is a respected certified CHEK exercise coach and retired tennis pro, with over 15 years of experience. His steadfast leadership and holistic approach to the game has helped players of all levels. “It’s about playing smart, having fun, and building each individual's optimal performance and lifelong skills on and off the court,” Ricardo shares.
Working side-by-side with Lisa, Ricardo brings his knowledge of the game to every client. He is a valuable resource for shoppers weighing their options for apparel and gear. Ricardo is the store’s stringing expert, helping players achieve just the right tension on their racquets.
“You can often see him analyzing customers’ swings to determine which racquet would be right for them, " adds Lisa. “The products customers are most excited about right now are always the newest racquets,” she noted. “We just got the new Pure Aero, which we’re selling like crazy, and the new Head Speed, which is Sinner’s racquet.”
She added that several legacy brands remain consistently popular among players, most notably: Yonex and Wilson.
Beyond just racquets, the store has a vast array of performance gear. With brands from Wilson to Babolat to K-Swiss to On, tennis footwear is a major draw. Players of all levels come to the store to try on different styles in person to select the best fit. The store’s clothing selection also reflects its boutique philosophy, focusing on a select brands and styles like Wilson, Sofibella, and Acewear, to name a few. “Our clothing selection is really quite unique and curated,” Lisa said. “Women come in here and love to pick out a new outfit.”
“We also have a wide selection of menswear as well,” she added. “Brands like Lacoste, Wilson, Fila, and others that players really enjoy.”
Beyond equipment and apparel, the store carries a full range of tennis accessories, from backpacks and totes to sunglasses, T-shirts, grips, wristbands, hats and all kinds of accessories.
Set Point’s success goes beyond merchandise, with guest experience at the highest priority.
“When customers come into the store, they’re usually so excited,” Lisa says. “They love the look and feel of the store. It’s very different, elevated, modern, and cool — not like the sporting goods superstores you usually see.”
That atmosphere encourages players to linger and connect with others who share their passion for the sport. “You’ll often see people just sitting down talking tennis with my husband Ricardo. They sit here for hours and just talk about sports.”
Set Point also leans into tennis culture by streaming major tournaments on their flat-screen TV like the recent Australian Open and Delray Beach Open, and the upcoming Miami Open. “We keep the major matches on display. It creates a really warm, inviting community,” she said.
The Palm Beach location comes after the success of the original Set Point Tennis in East Hampton, New York which quickly became a popular spot for players in the area. Many of their Hamptons’ clientele spend the winters in South Florida, and wanted a place like Set Point nearby, which ultimately inspired the expansion to Palm Beach.
“Now, we are celebrating our Hamptons’ 10th anniversary while growing in Palm Beach, and we are very excited about it all. We love our customers and the community we’ve created together.”
Today, Set Point Tennis is quickly becoming a destination for tennis players throughout the region — not just for the equipment, but for the full experience that comes with it.
