Schoenhaus, Vandromme win titles at ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals in Chengdu

Germany's Max Schoenhaus and Belgium's Jeline Vandromme won the titles at the 2025 ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals, which took place in Chengdu, China, P.R. from 22 to 26 October.

Vandromme, seeded No. 4, won a closely-fought encounter with American top seed Kristina Penickova on Sunday, recovering from a set down to record a 4-6 7-6(5) 7-5 victory in the girls' final. Schoenhaus, also seeded No. 4, enjoyed a comfortable win against No. 6 seed Yannick Theodor Alexandrescou of Romania, triumphing 6-2 6-0 to win the boys' title.

The victories cap stellar seasons for both players on the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors. Vandromme also won the girls' singles title at the US Open in September, while Schoenhaus finished runner-up in the boys' singles at Roland Garros in June.

The duo have now added their names to an impressive list of ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals champions, which include Andrey Rublev, Holger Rune and Marta Kostyuk.

Vandromme said: "I don’t even know if I can put this into words! It’s still unbelievable. It was a crazy match. Kristina played amazing. I’m just really happy that I fought until the end for every point, that I got through. To win this title… wow, it’s just an amazing feeling."

Schoenhaus said: "I'm very happy that I played some of my best tennis throughout the whole week. The best eight juniors are here, it's very tough to compete. I really like all the boys, they're close friends. It's never easy to play them but very happy that I got the title and played my best tennis."

Players at the Finals competed in round-robin groups over the opening three days, with the top two in each group advancing to the semi-finals. All players contested positional play-off matches over the weekend.

As champions, Vandromme and Schoenhaus have both earned 1000 ranking points (equivalent to the champions at a Junior Grand Slam event). All players at the Finals will also benefit from travel grants to support their transition to professional tennis, with a record $220,000 (USD) of total travel grant funding on offer.
