Miami Open Week 2: What's happening on Wednesday?
Mar 25, 2026
The first two semifinal spots were booked in the women’s draw on Tuesday. Coco Gauff reached her first final four in Miami in a three-set thriller over Belinda Bencic while Karolina Muchova moved closer to a second 1000-title of the season with a straight-sets win over Victoria Mboko.
The men played their entire Round of 16, with two upsets opening the busy day: Qualifier Martin Landaluce, 20, saved a match point in his win over No. 32 Sebastian Korda and No. 21 Jiri Lehecka took out the top-ranked American Taylor Fritz. In other action, former Miami champion Jannik Sinner ended Alex Michelsen’s run though two Americans - Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe - advanced.
The remaining women’s quarterfinals will take place Wednesday. Opening Stadium play will be a showdown between Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula. Rybakina has a 5-3 record against Pegula, with two wins over the American this year.
The night match will see defending champion Aryna Sabalenka take on unseeded American Hailey Baptiste, who is appearing in her first WTA 1000 quarterfinal. The men’s quarterfinal action features Jiri Lehecka facing 20-year-old qualifier Martin Landaluce during the day session and American Tommy Paul taking on 21-year-old Arthur Fils to close the evening. Paul won their only previous meeting, which took place in 2023.
The Miami Open WT500 begins on Wednesday on Court 1 and Court 5, featuring eight top men’s and women’s players from around the world. The three-round tournament will conclude Friday on Butch Buchholz. While Miami has hosted wheelchair tennis since 2024, this marks the first ITF-sanctioned tournament with official ranking points.
