Menšik and Cerundolo join strong UTS line-up in Hong Kong

Czech teenage sensation Jakub Menšik and World No.24 Francisco Cerundolo are joining the spectacular player field for Chubb UTS Hong Kong with Humansa at the Kai Tak Arena on October 14 and 15.

The Chubb UTS Hong Kong with Humansa marks UTS's first-ever event in Asia, with the city the only Asian stop in the 2025 UTS Tour. Chubb Life Hong Kong is proud to support this major international event in Hong Kong which is set to deliver an electrifying sports and entertainment spectacle.

Nineteen-year-old Menšik is ranked No.18 and is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in men’s tennis. He won this year’s prestigious Miami Open Masters 1000 event in a breakthrough which announced his arrival at the top of the sport. He also competed in UTS Guadalajara, the UTS Tour’s debut Latin American event held in February this year. Cerundolo is the highest ranked South American on the ATP Tour and broke in the world’s Top 20 in May this year with a string of impressive results.

Rising Chinese star Zhang Zhizhen has been the highest ranked Chinese man in ATP Tour history and is sure to attract huge crowd support when he takes to the court for what will be his UTS debut as well as his first time playing in Hong Kong. Zhang won the mixed doubles silver medal partnering Wang Xinyu at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris and became the first Chinese player to reach an ATP Tour Masters 1000 quarterfinal by making the last eight in Madrid in 2023.

Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios is scheduled to play alongside 2024 UTS Grand Final London winner, last week's Washington Open champion and World No.8 Alex De Minaur in the eight-man field in Hong Kong, along with Top 10 player and UTS favourite Andrey Rublev. Two further players will be announced in the coming months.

The players will compete for a total prize-money purse of $1.1million USD, with the winner taking home $306,000 USD and valuable UTS ranking points for the chase to qualify for the UTS Grand Final in London this December.

Chubb UTS Hong Kong with Humansa will have a big say in who qualifies for the UTS Grand Final London, scheduled for 5-7th December. Only eight players will make the elite field at the Copper Box Arena in the UK capital. Two players have already qualified by winning UTS events: triple Grand Slam Finalist Casper Ruud, champion of Bastide Médical UTS Nîmes in April, and Tomas Machac, the rising Czech star who won UTS Guadalajara in February. One more place will be awarded by direct qualification to the Hong Kong tournament’s champion, three will be given based on UTS ranking and two will go to wildcards chosen by UTS organisers.

Michael Cheng, President of the Hong Kong Tennis Association, said: “As the first event in the HKCTA’s 2025 Hong Kong Tennis Season, the Chubb UTS Hong Kong with Humansa brings a thrillingly new tennis concept to Hong Kong for the first time. With our considerable experience in delivering world-class tennis events the HKCTA is delighted to partner with the UTS to introduce this revolutionary format of the sport to Hong Kong’s enthusiastic tennis fans.”
