Legends and qualifiers kick off this weekend at the 2026 Delray Beach Open
Feb 14, 2026
Qualifying weekend at the 2026 Delray Beach Open is officially underway—and for a number of rising American players, it represents something far more significant than an early-round tune-up. For collegiate standouts, junior standouts, and tour veterans alike, Saturday’s qualifying draw offers a direct pathway into Monday’s main draw—and a rare opportunity to test their games in front of a South Florida crowd on the ATP stage. With local juniors, former finalists, and mainstay tour pros all in action, the tournament grounds will be busy from first ball to Legends night session.
1) Qualifying Gets Underway
Qualifying matches start Saturday, and Americans feature heavily in the qualifying draw. Colton Smith is seeded No. 7 as he looks to gain experience on the professional stage after playing at the University of Arizona, while Zachary Svajda claims the No. 4 spot. Also in the mix are Delray Beach Open veterans Michael Mmoh and Yoshihito Nishioka, the former a past quarterfinalist and the latter the 2020 finalist. The top seed goes to Australian Adam Walton, who is currently ranked No. 93. The players who win two rounds in qualifying will advance to the main draw on Monday.

2) Don’t Let His Ranking Fool You…
While qualifying wild card Benjamin Willwerth may be ranked No. 1608 on the professional tour, he’s only 18 years of age and holds the No. 4 spot in the ITF Junior world rankings. He’s coming off a finals appearance in the Australian Open junior event and hails locally from Jupiter. He’ll take on No. 8 seed Sho Shimabukuro on Court 1.
3) Baby Legend Makes an Entrance
Congratulations to two-time DBO champion and current Legends player Xavier Malisse, who welcomed baby James to his family last month. Fans can see Xavier play in both the day and night sessions on Saturday and on Sunday morning.
4) Brothers vs Brothers
Two of the most iconic doubles teams ever in professional tennis face off in the Legends event on Saturday night—the Jensen brothers vs. the Bryan brothers. In the '90s, Luke and Murphy Jensen won the French Open and brought a level of entertainment to professional tennis not seen before. In the 2000s, Bob and Mike Bryan took up the mantle and became the greatest team in history, winning 16 Grand Slams, an Olympic gold medal and a record six Delray Beach Open titles together.
