Inside Delray Beach Youth Tennis Foundation's 'Center Court Under the Stars' Event

The Delray Beach Youth Tennis Foundation held its 3rd annual fundraiser event, “Center Court Under the Stars”, on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Tennis Stadium in Delray Beach, Florida. This year, the event honored USTA Florida’s 75th Anniversary. The purpose of the event was to build long-lasting bonds between the diverse communities and institutions and give support to under-served children.

Over 200 guests enjoyed a special evening of delicious food and drinks, provided by Delray’s own DADA Restaurant, entertainment, and of course, top-notch tennis.

Returning for his third year, former Wimbledon and US Open Finalist, Kevin Anderson, ran a clinic for the kids of the Delray Beach Youth Tennis Foundation, followed by some Q&A with the kids that kept the crowd entertained.

Among the guest speakers during the presentations that followed was Adam Ross from Board of Directors of USTA Florida.

Next up was a surprise performance by the Cheerleader Teams from Delray Beach’s own Atlantic High School and Boca Raton’s Boca Raton High school.

The event moved on to some great tennis, with a Pro-Am and Pro-Pro doubles match-up pitting a team from Delray Beach and a team from Boca Raton. Representing Delray Beach on the pro side was Kevin Anderson, David McNamara and Cagri Saner who were accompanied by Delray Beach’s Vice Mayor, Juli Casale and Officer Bret Gordon. Representing Boca Raton on the pro side was Cyril Saulnier, Blu Baker and Ricardo Mendivil who were accompanied by Officer Jose Martinez and Maritza Martinez.

Delray Beach took home the trophy for a second year in a row.

The event would not have been possible without the support of its sponsors, including Ted Hoskinson of Roots and Wings and Asif Sharfi of Advantage Accounting & Tax. Also, special thanks to the City of Delray Beach Fire and Police Departments that brought their fire truck, police car and police motorcycle for the kids and attendees to view, the Delray Beach Tennis Center and the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce.
