Har-Tru Courts Help Power a Thriving Tennis Community at The Country Club at Mirasol

At The Country Club at Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens, tennis is more than an amenity—it is an important part of the club’s active and closely connected community.
Florida Tennis Magazine recently visited Mirasol to learn more about its thriving racquet sports program and the 15 Har-Tru courts that support everything from weekly clinics and social events to team competition and national and international tournaments.
Kristine Mendivil, Director of Racquet Sports at The Country Club at Mirasol, credits the strength of the program to a membership and management team that have fully embraced racquet sports.
“I am proud to say that I work for a phenomenal membership and management team that has really embraced the racquet sports program at Mirasol,” Mendivil said. “We have 15 Har-Tru courts, and they are extremely active.”
Those courts accommodate a wide variety of programming throughout the year. Mirasol hosts women’s and men’s teams, instructional clinics, social events and competitive tournaments, including national events and senior ITF competition. According to Mendivil, the objective is to collaborate as a team and consistently provide members with the best possible playing experience.
“We really embrace working with our colleagues and providing the best program that we can offer to our membership,” she said.
Maintaining 15 frequently used courts requires consistent care and close attention to detail. The Har-Tru courts at Mirasol undergo relining and resurfacing every two years, while the club’s maintenance team monitors them daily to ensure safe and optimal playing conditions.
“It is very important that we have optimal playing conditions for our members as well as our guests,” Mendivil explained. “We have a phenomenal maintenance team that takes a lot of pride every day in looking at all the details and keeping the courts in safe playing condition.”
That commitment has not gone unnoticed. Mendivil said the feedback from members and visiting players is consistently positive, with many describing Mirasol’s courts as some of the best they have played on.
Members particularly appreciate the comfort of playing on Har-Tru.
“Our members truly love playing on a softer surface because it is easier on their bodies,” Mendivil said. “They definitely embrace these courts.”
Mirasol member David Moss agreed that the surface provides noticeable benefits, especially when it is properly maintained.
“This particular surface is nice because, if it is well kept, it allows you to slide and change directions fairly easily without feeling it later that day or the day after,” Moss said.
For Moss, however, the people are what ultimately make the experience at Mirasol special.
“I think the best part about this place is the members themselves,” he said. “The members are really what make the club. Of course, the facilities are beautiful, and there are so many different things to do here, but the membership is particularly special.”
Moss highlighted the club’s welcoming and diverse community, which includes people from different parts of the world who share an appreciation for the club and its programs.
“The people are very nice, they are from different parts of the world, and it is just a very interesting group,” he said.
Sandi Seidman echoed that enthusiasm for both the tennis program and the quality of the courts. She praised Mendivil’s leadership and the variety of special events offered to members.
“The program here is awesome,” Seidman said. “Kristine has been doing a fabulous job running the tennis program, with special events that always incorporate the professionals. It is always a lot of fun for the members.”
Seidman also described Mirasol’s courts as some of the finest in Palm Beach County and credited the maintenance team for its quick response whenever an issue arises.
“The courts are probably the best in the Palm Beach County area,” Seidman said. “They are maintained beautifully. If there is a problem, you tell maintenance, and they fix it immediately. They do a great job, and when players from other clubs come here, they love playing here.”
For longtime players, the advantages of a clay court become increasingly important. Seidman noted that injuries can occur on any surface, but she finds clay noticeably more comfortable than a hard court.
“The older you get, the more injuries you may have, whether you are playing on a hard court or clay,” she said. “But clay is much easier on the body than a hard court.”
That combination of quality facilities, diligent maintenance, thoughtful programming and a passionate membership has helped create a special tennis culture at The Country Club at Mirasol. Its 15 Har-Tru courts provide the foundation for a program where players can compete, socialize and continue enjoying the sport in greater comfort.
From team matches and clinics to major events and everyday play, Mirasol demonstrates how well-maintained Har-Tru courts can support an active racquet sports community while delivering the playing experience members and guests value.
