Golden Ticket Tennis Brings Academy Day NYC Featuring Andrea Petkovic during US Open Kickoff Weekend

Golden Ticket Tennis will host its 3rd Annual Academy Day on Saturday, August 29, at Columbia University’s Milstein Family Tennis Center in New York, marking the start of the US Open with a full day of tennis programming.

This year’s event will feature The Andrea Petkovic Tennis Experience, giving participants the chance to spend time on court with Andrea Petkovic, the former WTA World No. 9, author, broadcaster and Tennis Channel analyst.

The morning portion of the event will include on-court clinics led by elite coaches Marc Lucero and Joel Myers, with Petkovic floating court to court to provide hands-on instruction. The session will be followed by a casual brunch and Q&A with Petkovic, Lucero and Myers, focused on the US Open draw, player mindsets heading into the first day of a major.

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. with check-in and warm-up, followed by a 90-minute clinic from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Brunch and the Q&A session are scheduled from 10:45 a.m. to noon.

The afternoon Academy Day program will feature Golden Ticket’s signature money dingles tournament, liveball sessions and clinics, and a winner-take-all one-point slam.

The money dingles tournament returns for its third year, offering players a competitive baseline team-game format with a chance to win cash. Liveball sessions and clinics will run alongside the tournament for beginner and intermediate players, giving participants the chance to hit, compete and connect throughout the afternoon.

The day will close with a one-point slam, where players compete in a single-point knockout format. Players rated 4.5 and above will receive one serve, with a cash prize awarded to the winner. 

Academy Day weekend will also include Golden Ticket Tennis’ 2nd annual player party on Friday, August 28, hosted with NYC Backgammon Club at the Gansevoort Hotel from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Academy Day ticket holders will be included on the list.
