Frank Veltri Racquet Center hosting USTA Girls' 14 National Clay Court Championship

The USTA Girls' 14 National Clay Court Championship is in full swing this week at the Frank Veltri Racquet Center in Plantation, Florida. The tournament showcases some of the nation's top young female tennis players aged 14 and under as they battle it out on the clay courts for a coveted national title.

So far, the competition is off to a great start with the round of 16 being played today —  both singles and doubles. Among the 16 singles players 6 are from Florida. The tournament should wrap up this weekend with the semifinals scheduled for Saturday morning and finals scheduled for Sunday morning.

"This is a tough tournament to win," says Tournament Supervisor Dan DeBruyne. "The winner has to win a minimum of 7 matches battling great competition in extreme heat."

Spectators are free to come and witness the talent of these young tennis players, all vying for a chance to be crowned National Champion. With the searing Florida heat, it will test the players' endurance on a har-tru surface that demands strategic thinking, fine footwork, and exceptional athleticism.
