Craig Tiley Takes Over USTA With Big Ambitions for American Tennis and the US Open

Craig Tiley has officially begun his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the United States Tennis Association, arriving in Orlando to lead the organization’s continued focus on growing American tennis and expanding the reach of the US Open.     

The USTA first announced Tiley’s appointment on Feb. 24, 2026. His arrival marks the start of a new chapter for the national governing body, which is coming off six consecutive years of tennis participation growth in the United States.

“The USTA has created a great platform to inspire further growth in tennis participation,” Tiley said on his first day on the job. “We want to work with everyone within the tennis family to grow the sport beyond what anyone thought possible.”

Tiley joins the USTA after 21 years with Tennis Australia, where he most recently served as CEO and Tournament Director of the Australian Open. During his time there, he helped drive growth across recreational tennis while also overseeing the continued development of the Australian Open as one of the sport’s premier global events.

His background also includes leadership in collegiate coaching, community tennis and major-event administration, giving him experience across several levels of the sport.

USTA Board Chair and interim Co-CEO Brian Vahaly, who was closely involved in bringing Tiley to the USTA, said the organization is fortunate to have him leading its next phase.

“Craig has spent his career at the forefront of our sport and brings a unique global perspective to the USTA,” said Vahaly. “We are fortunate to have him guide the organization into its next chapter as we build on six consecutive years of participation growth and continue our mission to grow tennis in America. I am confident his leadership will take both American tennis and the US Open to new heights.”

For Florida’s tennis community, Tiley’s arrival is especially relevant with the USTA National Campus located in Orlando, where the organization continues to support player development, coaching, competition and access to the game at every level.

“I want to thank Brian and the USTA Board for their support. I am excited by the incredible opportunities in front of us and the tremendous team we have to go get them,” Tiley said.
