Ben Shelton’s Tennis Performance and Recovery Routine With Thorne
Oct 22, 2026
Ben Shelton has one of the most explosive games in tennis. The booming lefty serve, the electric movement, the sheer force of his groundstrokes. But behind the fireworks is a considerably more calculated approach to keeping his body ready for the demands of life on the ATP Tour.
And increasingly, that approach has a name: Thorne.
The American tennis star has been working with the premium wellness brand since 2025, when he became the face of its Sports Performance campaign. Built around preparation, hydration and recovery, the partnership brought Shelton into a campaign that included striking desert-court photography, a national advertising rollout and a new collection of on-the-go supplements.

Now Shelton is offering another glimpse into his routine. In an October interview with POPSUGAR, he discussed using Thorne electrolytes during matches and regularly taking creatine, which he credits with helping his mental clarity on and off the court.
The routine is especially interesting given the physical demands of Shelton's tennis. His game revolves around explosive acceleration, powerful serving and the ability to sustain that intensity through long matches and demanding tournament schedules.
Hydration is an obvious priority. Thorne's Daily Electrolytes, available in portable stick packs, are designed to replenish electrolytes lost through sweat. Its sports-performance lineup also includes creatine, magnesium and amino-acid products, with several formulations carrying NSF Certified for Sport certification.

That certification matters in professional tennis, where athletes must pay close attention to the ingredients and contamination risks associated with supplements. Certification provides an additional safeguard, although it cannot eliminate every risk.
Shelton's relationship with Thorne is also part of a larger commitment to tennis. The brand's roster includes Grand Slam champion Madison Keys, while its tournament partnerships include the Miami Open and Charleston Open.
Florida is familiar territory for Shelton, who played college tennis at the University of Florida before launching his professional career. His association with Thorne brings together a recognizable Florida tennis connection and a company investing heavily in athlete performance.

There is a quieter side to Shelton's approach, too. In the same POPSUGAR interview, he described how much he enjoys unwinding at home between training sessions and tournaments, with movies and time on the couch among his favorite ways to decompress.
For a player whose tennis looks like controlled chaos, the attention to recovery makes perfect sense. That explosive game requires plenty of maintenance.
