ATP Media and Veritone Open Decades of Tennis History to a New Generation

Some of the greatest moments in men’s tennis are about to become considerably easier to find.

ATP Media, the broadcast and media arm of the ATP Tour, has entered into a multi-year agreement with Veritone that will expand access to its extensive tennis video archive across North America.

The collection stretches across decades of ATP Tour history and includes match highlights, iconic moments, player features, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and tournament scenes. ATP Media says its broader ATP Tour archive includes key and classic matches dating back to 1990.

For tennis publishers, filmmakers, brands and other content creators, the biggest change may be how that history can now be discovered and licensed.

Veritone will manage ATP Media content through its AI-powered Digital Media Hub, which provides advanced metadata, search capabilities and a centralized process for requesting and licensing footage. The idea is to make finding one particular point, player, match or moment less like searching through a vault and more like searching a modern digital library.

“Every season adds new chapters to the ATP Tour’s story, but the moments that define the sport continue to resonate long after the final point,” said Alan Bruno, Head of Business Development at ATP Media. “By partnering with Veritone, we're expanding opportunities for brands, editorial outlets, content creators and all video licensees in North America to access our world-class archive, helping bring those stories to new audiences.”

That archive covers a remarkable period of men’s tennis. ATP Media’s collection spans generations of champions and includes footage from ATP Masters 1000 events and the Nitto ATP Finals, along with material from ATP 500 and ATP 250 tournaments.

The value goes beyond nostalgia. Historic footage has become increasingly important across documentaries, social media, digital journalism and branded storytelling, particularly as younger tennis audiences discover past champions through short-form video rather than traditional television.

For tennis media, it also creates an opportunity to tell richer stories. A feature about a current player can suddenly reach backward into earlier matches and rivalries. An anniversary can be illustrated with the actual moment rather than simply described. A new generation of fans can see why a point, match or champion still matters.

“Some of the most memorable moments in sports deserve a life far beyond the live broadcast,” said Craig Caruso, Vice President of Sports Media and Commercial Partnerships at Veritone.

In tennis, there are plenty of those moments waiting in the vault.
