Aug 01, 2025
The American Tennis Association (ATA) hosted the 2025 Black Tennis Experience from July 27 to August 3 in Orlando, Florida—an inspiring week of events honoring the legacy and future of Black tennis in America.
The celebration began with a Celebrity Pro-Am Tournament at the USTA National Campus, where professional players such as Jermaine Jenkins, Jarmere Jenkins, Chris Hill, and Jeri Ingram teamed up with celebrities including Tamara ‘Taj’ Johnson-George and actor Davinci for a fun and energetic morning of tennis and community engagement.
Later that evening, the Black Tennis Experience Awards Gala at Rollins College recognized leaders in the sport, including Jarmere and Jermaine Jenkins, USTA executive Stacey Allaster, and Illona Young, mother and coach of Donald Young.
The week concluded with the ATA National Championships, which welcomed hundreds of players from ages 10 to 85+ across recreational and competitive divisions. Youth and adult winners earned college scholarships and wildcard entries into USTA events—underscoring the ATA’s mission to promote opportunity, mentorship, and excellence through tennis.
Now in its 109th year, the ATA continues to foster community and inclusion, drawing national attention and nearly $1 million in projected economic impact through this year’s celebration.
