2025 Miami Open presented by Itaú Announces Addition of Padel and Wheelchair Tennis

The Miami Open presented by Itaú announced that this year’s edition of the tournament will feature the all-new Publix Padel Cup, in collaboration with RedPADEL along with the return of the elite Miami Open Wheelchair Tennis Invitational event. This marks the first time both sports will take place together at any 1000 series tournament.
The Publix Padel Cup is a professional padel tournament, sponsored by Publix, the largest employee-owned grocery chain in the United States, and will be making its debut at Hard Rock Stadium from March 27 – 30. In close collaboration with RedPADEL and the USPA, this new addition will feature the 16 Division One Men's Teams and 8 Division One Women's Teams, each qualifying via the NOVAC WPR Road to Miami Circuit, a transformative tournament series featuring three qualifying tournaments. The groundbreaking circuit offers more than $65,000 in prize money, with the series culminating at the 2025 Miami Open where the 24 teams will compete for a prize fund of $25,000.

Three world-class padel courts will be built on the Miami Open campus by new tournament partner Padel Lux, a premier supplier of custom luxury padel courts worldwide for both commercial and residential use. One court will be situated in the all new Padel Lounge where fans will have the opportunity throughout the tournament to learn all about padel and play in bespoke clinics while the other courts will host the four-day tournament, offering fans the chance to see competitive padel played at the highest level.
After making its successful debut last year, the popular Miami Open Wheelchair Tennis Invitational will return in 2025 from March 26-28.
Local favorite, Dana Mathewson, who played in the inaugural event, has been appointed the Assistant Tournament Director having recently retired after a remarkable wheelchair tennis career, winning 16 singles titles and 32 doubles titles.

The three-time U.S. Paralympian commented: “I am delighted to have been offered this opportunity at one of the biggest tennis events in America. The timing is absolutely perfect, having retired after playing in my last event in November, and this feels like the perfect challenge for me. I am very excited to get to work alongside Tournament Director James Blake and learning the ropes from him.”

The 2025 Miami Open presented by Itaú will offer fans an off-court experience with many new restaurants and partner activations to be announced in the coming weeks, matching the on-court excellence of the world’s best men and women tennis players competing at the ATP and WTA 1000 event, March 16 – 30 at the iconic Hard Rock Stadium.
